Review: The Last Story

I'm back! And here to stay. I'm sorry for the delay, I hope this makes your taste-buds tingle with happiness.

The Last Story looked like a Final Fantasy game because of it's amazingly beautiful artwork, take a peak:

See? Gorgeous! (My deepest apologies if it's grainy)

Anyhow, it is not a Final Fantasy produced game. It may have the same artwork designer (Dang, I need to know this stuff.), though I'm not sure. Okay...So let's get to the actual review!

You start out right in the middle of a 'mission,' and that was pleasantly different from some stories--Err, I mean games. (Example: Ocarina of Time. You start out by...Wait for it...Waking up) But, even thought it was a nice change, it was hard to get a grasp of what exactly was going on.

Learning the controls was pretty awful, too. When tutorials came on they were hard to understand, and, at least on my television (I chose the crappiest television in my home to play it on, so that may have been my problem, but that's somewhat doubtful.) it was blurry and had crappy graphics. The controls are just odd. I used the regular Wii remote, I strongly suggest using the other compatible remote, the handheld one with joysticks and such.

When you have to fight, the controls are extra difficult. You actually don't have to do much but approach an opponent, and it'll do the fighting for you. This is...Awkward. I like controls that X in punch, O is kick, XO is a combo, and Triangle is your Special Attack. But that's just me.

Going back to graphics. Again, I played on a crappy TV, so disregard some of what I have to say. Okay, keep in mind this is a Wii game, so lovely HD cannot be used. The graphics on the beginning scenes were awful. Blurry, grainy, you couldn't read the words on the screen, yadda yadda. When you finish your mission and go back into town, the graphics magically get better, however, so that's not a very big deal.

The town is awesome. I love these kinds of games where they have an actual constructed town with back roads, alleyways, everything. That was spectacular. Unfortunately, it made it hard to get around town. You got lost a lot and forgot where you were going. The map IS your friend!

Now going on to characters...
The main characters are really intriguing. I can't wait to learn more about them! And for spoilers sake, I won't talk any more about them. Just know: They're amazing.

Now going on to story-line...
OH EM GEE. I'm so pumped about this story-line! It's beautiful. (For lack of a better word) Not only are a large mixture of characters involved, you're put in this confusing, yet wonderfully messed up world, where everyone dresses like Anime characters...YEAH.

And I should say...

The game's rated T, but there's a bit of language, alcohol use, and sexual...Ness. They definitely stay in the boundaries of T, but if you're uncomfortable with that sort of thing, this game isn't the one for you. I also don't support any of that...So...*Cough*

All in all, this is a pretty good game. If you can get through the awkward controls, possibly bad graphics, Rated T-ness, then this is worth playing.

Expect to see GameLogs of The Last Story soon!
