Review: Assassins Creed
Ah, Assassins Creed. The ever-so popular series about murder. And don't we all love a good murder game?
The answer is yes, but the real question here is: IS this a good murder game?
Weeeellll...I'll tell you.
A few months ago I got this game in preparation for AC3, which I thought would be an awesome game. I mean, did you see those trailers? HOLY CRAP! They looked amazing. And me being me, I wanted to play the first one to see if I liked it. So I got it and was anxious to play.
If any of you read "GameLog: Assassins Creed, I" then you know I wasn't very successful at first. Not at all. I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do and couldn't get anywhere. The map was very difficult for me to read. (In games, I'm awful with maps. Go figure.) The world is HUGE back in this medieval land, and getting to Damascus is hard work! Especially when it's super easy to tick off guards...Oh...My...Word...You can't run without being attacked. Do you know how hard it is not to run in a video game where you can run? DO YOU KNOW?
...Yeah...
Moving on. The controls. Ergh. Those aren't good. Even before Assassins Creed 3, they were bad. You had to hold five million buttons to sprint. And climbing buildings (A key thing in these games) was just difficult. I give them a strong grade of D. They would be F, except that after you FINALLY get used to them, they're decent.
But I didn't get to that point. Nope, I bailed after playing it two times. TWO. I wasn't impressed. I couldn't bring myself to enjoy the confusing pain. I'm sorry. But the graphics, although crappy compared to this-gen games, were okay and good for their time. And the storyline? AWESOME! I'm really appreciative of the fact each game has two storylines, basically. The storyline of the ancestor which is fully played out in the game, and then the main storyline of Desmond and his fiascos outside of the Animus which connect all the games together. I love storylines, and this storyline is great. It's depthy enough, but isn't confusing. So that's swell.
I couldn't get into this game, I just couldn't. The controls were the main issue here. If you want to read of my first time playing the game, here's the link to GameLog: Assassins Creed, I: http://ablogforgamers.blogspot.com/2012/12/gamelog-assassins-creed-i.html
Do I dislike the Assassins Creed franchise? HECK to the NO! (Lame, I know) The characters are truly well-done and lovable, the worlds are AMAZING and extremely detailed, the extras (Such as assassination contracts) are really fun, and it's somehow rewarding to kill someone with a knife and watch blood spew out of them. Heh.
My next review will be of Assassins Creed II, where I have some nicer things to say. So stay tuned.

My Assassins Creed Journey
Wow. It has been way too long since I've blogged...Let's just skip the excuses and get on with the post.
As some of you may know, I wrote up a GameLog of Assassins Creed I quite a while ago. Turns out, that game isn't very good...I'll plan on writing up a review and going further into depth about that; to save some space here.
So, after really trying to play it, I was told to just dump it and play the other Assassins Creed I have, Assassins Creed III. I didn't like this idea at first, because I'm such a fan of storylines and I wanted to be able to understand this one...Turns out, I didn't need to play any of the other games to figure this one out.
Since every game(I assume) takes place in different eras and are different ancestors to the main dude, they each come with their own storyline that's fully played out in the game. The "main" storyline, which has the main characters which are in every game, that's really easy to guess what's going on. Of course, me being me, I'd like to hear the backstories of these characters and such...But that's just not necessary. I'm too wrapped up in Conner and his story that when something from the "main" storyline comes into play, I just sit their anxiously waiting to return to killing Redcoats.
I won't be continuing ACI, so don't expect to see GameLogs on that...I'm sorry! I suck, I know. BUT, I'm ALMOST done with AC3, and I will write out a lengthy, honest review on that. Just for you guys. SMILE.

GameLog: Assassins Creed, I
*May contain spoilers
This past weekend, I treated myself to the game Assassins Creed, the first one. Since three looks like magic, I wanted to play the first (and not expensive one) one first to see if I like the game. And so, I decided to make a GameLog of this as well. Let us begin!
When you first start out, the story-line is quite confusing, but you get the jist. Your character was born an assassin, left the 'farm', and all of his ancestors are assassins. There's a machine that can access your ancestors memories and let you relive them (Or watch them, I guess?) and that's the game. I think your character is watching these memories, but YOU are playing the game.
I'm currently on the first ancestor. It is set in about medieval times, so it's kind of cool going through Jerusalem and such. (Being a Christian since[Basically, but not really] birth, I know of all these Biblical towns.) It's really cool, because you can do many things, like climb walls and jump on all these things and run from people and hide in haystacks, ya know, all these things you wish you could do in real life, but it's also sort of dumb.
For example: It's a bit hard to navigate through towns, then again I'm still new to the game, and it's hard to know exactly what you're doing and what mission you're on. Again, I'm still new, and this will probably go away with time.
The game is rated M, which isn't the best thing in the world, but it's rated M for mild language (As in D's, H's, and those little things.) and blood. And, obviously, violence. It's actually quite funny, and I started laughing at this, in one scene, one of the dudes thrusts a dagger into another dude, and the blood shoots out like a sprinkler. I died laughing. It was like, slice, shower head of blood comes on.
But, all in all, I'm excited for this game, and I hope I like it enough to get into the series. Wish me luck, though, because I keep getting lost. Damascus, where the heck are you??!!!

Upcoming Video Games
Here's a list, and a comment or two, about the upcoming video games of 2012.
Halo 4. Sorry, Halo doesn't impress me. So I am not excited about this game, thank you.
Assassins Creed III{3}. Okay, I have yet to play Assassins Creed, but I'M excited for this game! The graphics look astounding, which is to be expected anyways, and the story-line looks like it continues into this awesome-looking game. And when there's an actual number to the game, says Kingdom Hearts makers, you know it has to be fabulous. I mean, it's set in the American Revolution and I think we can all agree that when a game reflects a real happening it's downright cool. This game is rated M.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops II{2}. Dear goodness, why is this lagging on?! Why is there a black ops two?! COD was slightly fun the first time I played it. But good gracious, I was done with it quickly. Of course this is a twelve-year-old boys game... Which I am not a twelve-year-old nor a dude... So that's probably why I don't like it. So let's cross this off our Christmas list, shall we? But hey, if you're a Duty player... Whatever, go for it.
The Last of Us. Oh. My. Arceus.(I had to y'all.) OKAY, okay. If you don't know what this game is, pay attention folks. This game looks magical. Not literally, in a gory and gross kind of magic. This game is set twenty years after destruction of 'fungus' taking over and killing people, turning them into something that sounds quite gross called The Infected. Well, it sounds gross but it's actually very gross. You die and then the fungus takes control of your corpse. Magical, right? So far only three characters are known, and they're legit. Joel, the main protagonist, is a hardcore dude who takes no crap and is the real thing. Ellie, the main protagonist, is a somewhat 'troubled' teen, or so people think of her, who has lived in this troubled world her whole life. She can get aggressive and is known to be sarcastic with Joel. An interesting character, in my mind. The whole world that has been made is impressive and intense, with The Infected and Scavengers and more. This would be described as "Gross, gory and lovely." My kind of game. I describe a lot of things that way, and when I do it's straight out of the heart, so believe it my friend. This game isn't rated yet.
Pokemon Black & White 2. Let me just say, I had zero interest in BW one, so I don't for BW two. It kind of let me down, let's be honest. And I didn't even play it, but just hearing about it and seeing the Pokemon made me not want to play it. But let's talk about BW2. I'm told that it's going to have a LOT of new features and places to explore (At least that's an upside) and that you can even battle past Gym Leaders. Such as Misty, which is cool in my mind. That would be the only reason why I would get this game, although that would mean the extras would be better then the playtime. If you are going on this black and white journey, good luck to you.
Dishonored. This action game looks like another magical game. Or otherwise known as gory, gross and lovely. The main character (You) is framed for murder and is forced into assassin-hood, making this game look like a whole lot of fun. Not only that, you rock an awesome mask all the time. An awesome mask! So your enemies consist of guards and your friends consist of... Oh wait... You're a creeper who wears a full-face mask, you don't have any friend. I'm sorry to just put this on you now, but you had to know. Actually you have a good list of protagonists, all who I won't say and I'll you figure them out, to help you along in the game. I will tell you, however, the good list of abilities you have. First of all, there's Agility, Bend Time, Blink, Blood Thirsty, Dark Vision, Possession, Vitality, Shadow Kill, Windblast, and Devouring Swarm. If that doesn't sell it then I don't know what will! It is rated M however. For gore, sexual themes and crude, indecent language. Boo for those who can't play it.
Alright, there's probably more out there, but this is a good list for now, I'd think. Keep on gaming guys, and I will try to update soon.
